In her first years at La Fortaleza, the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Wilma ­Pastrana Jiménez, has a clear vision of what she wants to achieve through her “Proyectos de Vida” (“Life Projects”): leave a profound impact on families, schools, and children living in communities all around Puerto Rico.
Life Projects consist of three main initiatives: Planting Life, Activate Your Life, and Living Spaces. Through Planting Life, we bring agriculture to schools and communities in order to encourage the love for our land and promote food security in the country. Activate Your Life aims to raise awareness about the importance of healthy eating and emphasizes physical activities. Living Spaces promotes better options for people with special needs to reach their highest potential of independent living and it also promotes social inclusion.

The “Siembra Vida” project (“Planting Life”) is focused on facilitating and expanding children’s learning process by working with schools to develop ­community gardens.
