In the winter of 1963, a small group of concerned citizens gathered in Ambler, Pennsylvania, to discuss the community's need for child care services and to plan a program to meet this demonstrated community need. The group applied for incorporation as a non profit agency in March 1964 and opened the doors of the first center of the Day Care Association of Montgomery County, Inc. in Ambler in March 1967.
Today the Day Care Association of Montgomery County serves children and their families in 12 centers throughout the Delaware Valley, providing a mixture of private and subsidized child care to the families of infants, toddlers, preschool, kindergarten, and school-age children. On any given day approximately 900 children are served by over 160 employees. The Association has gone though major evolutions over its 27 year history to become one of the largest non profit child care organizations in the country (#15 on Exchange Top 50 list) with an annual budget of approximately $3.2 million.
One of the more unique aspects of the Day Care Association is the variety of services provided and the range of vehicles for providing that service. ...
