Imagine a parent, or parents, who work full-time. This family has a young child who needs to be cared for, but there aren’t any family members who live nearby. They want their child to be in a home environment, but to also benefit from the experience of social and learning opportunities. They receive a recommendation from a friend to call a nearby family child care provider. They wonder if this is a wise solution. How can they know if this provider is someone they can trust? Although there are a number of family child care providers around the country, when parents look for an accredited provider they are on their way to finding a high-quality environment for their child.

The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality child care by strengthening the profession of family child care believes family child care accreditation is the true measure of high-quality family based care.
