They choose materials that they can do things with �" that they can discover with and that are often bright, make noise, or can be combined with something else to do fun stuff. Go out and about and watch them discover and see what entices them. It is not the complicated educational materials that are expensive and not in the budget �" but stuff that is around. It is NOT computers and TV/video or video games. It is about discovering who they are through their everyday interactions with their world and what interests and attracts them. The other stuff is presented to them by adults who think it is “cool.”
Capture the TEACHABLE MOMENTS and look at all of the routines and experiences attached to them as the most valuable learning times we can enjoy with children.
