The Arts and Humanities Research Division (AHRD) of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) is organizing its 2nd Annual International Conference on Humanities & Arts in a Global World which will be held in Athens, Greece on 3-6 January 2015. In the past, the five research units of AHRD have organized 30 annual international conferences on history, philosophy, literature, linguistics, languages, as well as the visual and performing arts. This annual international conference offers an opportunity for cross disciplinary presentations on all aspects of humanities, arts and related disciplines including Art, Art History, Classics, Literatures, Cultures, and Languages, English, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, Arabic, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Religious Studies etc.

Special arrangements will be made with a local luxury hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A Greek night of entertainment with dinner, a special one-day cruise to selected Greek islands, an archaeological tour of Athens and a one-day visit to Delphi. The Brain and Early Learning, 5th Annual Science Symposium will focus on the importance of supporting children’s early brain development as a foundation for life-long success and the impact early learning hands-on science experiences have on promoting optimal brain development, emotional regulation, resilience and awareness of the world around us.
Participants will leave with an enhanced knowledge of:
• The critical role early learning educators play in supporting infant/toddler brain development;
• How to facilitate interactive science investigations and activities through an inquiry-based approach;
• The resources available to educators and their students at the California Science Center;

The symposium will kick-off with a keynote address by Dr. Samuel Chan, District Chief, Children’s System of Care, L.A. County Department of Mental Health on Brain Development in the Young Child. The event will also include three breakout training sessions in addition to a Curriculum Fair consisting of vendors, community resources and information from educational programs and organizations. |
