AnjiPlay is a powerful, innovative, play-based curricular approach developed over the past 15 years by Ms. Cheng Xueqin, Director of Early Childhood Education for Anji County, China. The approach focuses on the use of natural materials, loose parts, extended outdoor play, and highly sophisticated observation and reflection practices for teachers, children and parents. It is currently in use full time in 130 schools serving 14,000 kids ages 3-6 across Anji County. Ms. Cheng, in collaboration with her 700 educators, 1000’s of families, and local government and community leaders, has developed a complete pedagogical system of uniquely designed materials, environments, and practices that is impacting early education policy and practice across China. AnjiPlay Study Tour |

Phone: 917 415-1020 Web Site: http://www.anjiplay.com/events E-mail: [email protected] |
This is the first opportunity for international educators to see the ground-breaking approach honoring young children’s right to True Play in the towns and villages where it was developed.
The week-long study tour includes daily visits to Anji’s kindergartens that serve children ages 3 to 6, seminars and dialogues with Anji’s early educators, and facilitated discussions with fellow participants to share experiences and insights.
Participants will visit Anji kindergartens, ranging from large programs (500+ children) in small urban areas to smaller programs (less than 10 children) in rural villages. Study tour participants will have extended time to observe the practice of AnjiPlay and learn from children engaged in True Play.
The group will experience how the educational practice grows from love and how children, schools, families and communities embrace the right to True Play creatively, constructively, and joyfully. Participants make on-going connections with colleagues from around the world who share the same commitment to love, risk, joy, engagement and reflection in the lives of young children. |
