The Brain and Early Learning, 5th Annual Science Symposium will focus on the importance of supporting children’s early brain development as a foundation for life-long success and the impact early learning hands-on science experiences have on promoting optimal brain development, emotional regulation, resilience and awareness of the world around us. Participants will leave with an enhanced knowledge of: • The critical role early learning educators play in supporting infant/toddler brain development; • How to facilitate interactive science investigations and activities through an inquiry-based approach; • The resources available to educators and their students at the California Science Center; • How to expand their curriculum with strategies and activities that promote and support optimal learning; and • The important role early learning educators play in partnership with parents through the extension of activities, resources and supports. The symposium will kick-off with a keynote address by Dr. Samuel Chan, District Chief, Children’s System of Care, L.A. County Department of Mental Health on Brain Development in the Young Child. The event will also include three breakout training sessions in addition to a Curriculum Fair consisting of vendors, community resources and information from educational programs and organizations.
