The Foundation for Child Development in its 2009 Youth Well-Being Index Report projects that the well-being of children and families will decline in the coming year to its status in 1975 due to the impact of the recession.  Thus, the report concludes, "the current recession will wipe out the gains, particularly since the late 1990's, of this 35 year period."  The factors considered by the Foundation in making this projection are...

• the poverty rate for all families with children;
• children living in families with at least one parent with secure employment;
• median family income for all families with children; and
• the rate of children living in families with some form of health insurance.
