10,000 Votes for Children
May 8, 2014
Reconciliation should be accompanied by justice, otherwise it will not last. While we all hope for peace, it shouldn't be peace at any cost, but peace based on principle, on justice.
-Corazón Cojuangco Aquino

The ExchangeEveryDay for October 4, 2013 talked about the United Nations initiative to develop a framework for its work beyond 2015 and talked about a petition to make sure early childhood education was a basic goal in this framework. Speaking yesterday at the 2014 World Forum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Pia Britto observed that with the final decisions about the framework about to be made, early childhood education has fallen totally off the agenda. That message also urged subscribers to sign a petition organized by Tessa Jowell, a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom, to ensure that early childhood development is acknowledged as a goal on the final agenda. The goal of the petition was to capture 10,000 signatures. As of today we need around 500 more signatures to reach this goal before the close of the 2014 World Forum in Puerto Rico so please read about and sign this critical petition.

It occurs to me that parents who are diligently involved in their children's schoolwork may have a lack of trust in their children to do their work on their own. Trusting children to have their own best interests at heart may inspire more effort on their part than hovering anxiously to offer help or motivation.

Where is the petition to sign? Is it available for you to post, Scott? My vote is in for sure.
Appreciatively, Andi Furman.
