World Happiness Report
May 28, 2015
Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.
-Frank Lloyd Wright

"The best predictor of whether a child will become a satisfied adult is not their academic achievement but their emotional health in childhood," note the authors of the 2015 World Happiness Report. This report calls for more school and family support for children's social-emotional development:

"Every parent wants their child to be happy at school and to learn how to become a happy adult. Yet many schools do not see this as a primary objective of their institution. There is no conflict between these objectives. In fact, the evidence is clear—if children are happier, that is also good for their intellectual development."

SET: Social Emotional Tools for Life

Social Emotional Tools for Life provides teachers of young children with easy-to-use strategies to support emotional and social development in the classroom. It will help early childhood educators capitalize on day-to-day interactions and caregiving routines to build positive relationships with and between children. Vignettes and specific language examples guide teachers in applying the strategies during everyday moments.

I was lucky enough to be a stay-at-home mom. I wish there was a way to support families to make staying home with their children a real option.

Best way to give child a stable, loving emotional life is for child to have two parents, mom and dad, and for mom to stay home with child until at minimum, he/she enters kindergarten. I see a lot of children terribly messed up by being put in daycare. How to afford? Government cuts taxes so moms can stay home with their kids. Give their precious kids the best kind of early childhood.
