Special NAEYC Offer
September 19, 2014
No sight is more provocative of awe than is the night sky.
-Llewelyn Powys

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has two pieces of good news for ExchangeEveryDay subscribers regarding the 2014 NAEYC Annual Conference & Expo in Dallas, Texas, in November.  First, they have extended the deadline for registering at the discounted Early Bird Rate until September 30.  Second, they are offering our subscribers a 15% discount off the registration fee.  To take advantage of the ExchangeEveryDay discount, use code LCLA14 when registering at the conference website.

This year's NAEYC conference will offer attendees over 700 sessions on early childhood topics.  In addition, they will be debuting Grandes Comienzos, Futuros Brillantes (Great Beginnings, Bright Futures), a new initiative that will focus on the strengths and needs of Spanish-speaking children, families, and staff across the Americas.  As part of this initiative, attendees will experience new sessions conducted in Spanish, sessions on dual-language learning, and other sessions addressing issues affecting Spanish-speaking children and families.  In addition there will be a number of sessions on the CDA program.

Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs
Third Edition

Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood ProgramsSince the first edition in 1987, Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs has been an essential resource for the early child childhood field. Fully revised and expanded, the third edition comes with a supplementary CD containing readings on key topics, plus video examples showing developmentally appropriate practice in action. Based on what the research says about development, learning, and effective practices, as well as what experience tells us about teaching intentionally, this book articulates the principles that should guide our decision making. Chapters describe children from birth through age 8 in detail, with extensive examples of appropriate practice for infant/toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and primary levels.
