Lead From the Heart
September 8, 2016
If you haven't forgiven yourself something, how can you forgive others?
-Dolores Huerta, Activist and Community Organizer

In the Nov/Dec 2015 issue of Exchange, Nancy Rosenow shares four strategies that have worked for her as she chooses a "heart-centered" approach to leadership.

1. Use a kind inner voice. "Becoming a heart-centered leader is an inside job, and it's not for the faint-of-heart. It's a process of getting to know and accept ourselves." To do this, listen to your inner messages and find a kinder, more accepting way of speaking to yourself.

2. Choose love more than hate. It is easy to get caught up in fear when making big decisions. Try instead to focus on positive outcomes, joy and possibilities.

3. Celebrate often. Set the tone for the organization by focusing on what is going well. Notice the qualities and effort you want to see in your organization and celebrate these things frequently and exuberantly.

4. Believe in everyone’s strength of heart. "Once we as heart-centered leaders have come to accept our own 'realness,' learned to choose love over fear, and come to believe deeply in our strength of heart, then we’re ready to support others in doing the same."

These are just four. How do you lead with your heart?
