Dover Educational and Community Center is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year, and Emily George Morris is one mighty proud director. "We've had some very tight times, but we're here. And people tell us that we are doing good things for children. I want to tell other directors, 'When things get tough, you just need to hang in there. Don't give up. Your hard work, commitment, and dedication is recognized. Even when you think no one notices, people are watching. It's us - we will make the difference in the next generation. The silver lining has got to come.'"

Emily became director of the Dover program, a private nonprofit day care center serving 28 children, in 1971, leaving the State Department of Public Instruction to take on this challenge on behalf of disadvantaged children. "I believe that, given challenges and opportunities, all children can and will learn."
