In the corner of the very large campus of The City College of the City University of New York, you can find Schiff House. In this comfortable old building thrives a relatively small early childhood program. It’s been there for 27 years, but most of the inhabitants are still quite young. Two to six years old. The program belongs here, as do the people in it.

Everyone who spends their days in this house is part of a village, because when Geraldine Price founded this program 27 years ago, she knew that everyone involved in the program �" children, parents, teachers, staff, student teachers, field work students, work study students and custodians �" is part of the community that helps these particular children learn and grow and these families thrive. Licensed for 45 children, the Center enrolls only children of The City College students.

Geraldine Price taught at The City College just as her former student, LaTrella Thornton, does now.
