Preparing for 2011 World Forum

With the 2011 World Forum less than eight months away, the World Forum Foundation is intensely engaged in planning to make sure each delegate has a meaningful and inspiring experience. In July, Bruce Schon and Bonnie and Roger Neugebauer made a site visit to Honolulu with the primary purpose of solidifying plans for the cultural, educational, and recreational activities that delegates will participate in on Tuesday, May 3, before the Opening Ceremonies.

We met with leaders of the early childhood community, including representatives from the Hawaii Association for the Education of Young Children, the Child Care Business Collaborative, Aha Punana Leo, the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Air Force, and Kamehameha Schools. A Hawaiian Advisory Team was organized during the visit to make sure that the World Forum takes full and appropriate advantage of all that Hawaii has to offer delegates.

The Tuesday activities being organized will offer delegates a wide range of opportunities to experience the life and culture of Hawaii. In the works are opportunities to make kapa cloth, work in taro fields, learn about indigenous language nest programs, spend a day of relaxation and meditation at an oceanside state park, cook international recipes, visit a ...
