“So what are you going to do about it?” This was my mother’s question when I gave her my travel report. She voiced the question, but I know it was in the minds of many people we encountered along the way and many others who have listened, like my mother, to our stories.

Is it possible to go on a journey to a new place and return unchanged? Possible, perhaps, but then what is the point of the journey? And so Roger and I went to Africa to be changed �" to learn, to see, to encounter, and to enjoy �" with a sense of anticipation about what would happen. How would the experience change us? How would it impact our work with the World Forum? How does Africa feel? What is it like to live there, for children and for their families?

Friends at each destination set up meetings and visits and created introductions. They shared their lives and took us to favorite places. With great generosity, they took care of us and taught us.
