Who's the Target Audience?
The target audiences for this are intermediate and advanced teachers. This kit will guide teachers to create their own plan for assessing children’s understanding of key mathematics concepts.

Kit Timeline:
Preparation time for this kit is estimated at .75 hour. Implementation time is estimated at 1.5 hours.

Training Outcomes:

1. Teachers will explore the purposes, values, and uses of assessment to determine children’s understanding of mathematics concepts.
2. Teachers will identify and evaluate their current mathematics assessment practices.
3. Teachers will brainstorm and list a variety of methods for assessing children’s understanding of mathematics concepts in each of the 5 areas of mathematics understanding.
4. Teachers will role-play questioning strategies which will help to improve student responses.
5. Teachers will list and explain ways to document assessments of children’s understanding of mathematics concepts.
6. Teachers will create a mathematics assessment plan for their classroom.
