Resources on Creativity
December 30, 2002

"Forget regret, or life is yours to miss."
–Jonathan Larson

RESOURCES ON CREATIVITY

Our favorite magazine, Utne Reader (www.utne.com) recommends the following books on creativity:

Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit (Simon and Schuster, 2002): "The modern-dance giant shares her quirky and very down-to-earth methods for sparking creativity: toss the change in your pocket on a table, arrange it in a pattern and give it a name. Pick an action -- any action -- and act it out. Immediately useful and wise to boot."

Steven Pressfield, The War of Art: Winning the Inner Creative Battle (Rugged Land, 2002): "Pressfield, a no-nonsense novelist and screenwriter...makes a brilliant diagnosis of the malaise that keeps creators from creating. He calls it resistance, and shows how to defeat it with a unique blend of machismo and spirituality."
