Things Not to Say in a Speech
April 3, 2017
Curriculum becomes intriguing, alive, and compelling when something out of the blue captures the imagination of a group of children.
-David Sobel, Childhood and Nature

In Works Well with Others (New York: Dutton, 2015) Ross McCammon suggests never to say these things in a speech:

"A great man once said…"

"It all started back in…"

"Folks…"

"At the end of the day…"

"Sorry. I get a little emotional."

And, I will add this one:

"I'm getting the sign that my time is nearly up and I still have 15 power point slides to go, so I will speed through them."
