Love to the Children of Ukraine… and Everywhere
March 2, 2022
Everyone talks about peace, but no one educates for peace. People educate for competition and this is the beginning of any war. When we educate to cooperate and be in solidarity with one another, that day we will be educating for peace.
-Maria Montessori
A Facebook story from a Waldorf School in Ukraine, posted less than two weeks ago, described the happiness adults and children were feeling as they celebrated signs of spring, and simple joys of nature. Here’s part of what they wrote:

“Long, cold nights have passed, the first breaths of spring are in the air…

So, the kids and I made crackers out of dough, decorated them and called for birds…What a joy to hear the joyful and already spring singing of birds. And to see a peaceful sky over our country.”

Here is the full post.

We are certain you join us as we say our hearts are with the children of Ukraine, and, indeed with children everywhere in our world.

Linda and Idie, thank you so much commenting. My heart also hurts for those being put into this awful position. Thank you for caring for children and showing them love.

It is so profoundly, devastatingly sad that these children are living a very different reality now. My heart aches for them and for a world in which children are so little regarded that adults seeking power can dismiss them with no thought at all. May it all end very soon.

Thank you for sharing this article attesting to how quickly life can change. It is a vivid illustration as to why it is essential to hold our children near and dear.
