A Moment of Joy on Monday

As the quote from Thich Nhat Hanh implies, sometimes we must become the source of our own joy. Our world is certainly facing uncertainty right now AND it is still filled with love and beauty. We each have the power to seek out joy and share it with those around us today.

Here are a few of our favorite quotes to help us all focus a bit on the goodness of life as we start our week.

From the poet, Rumi: “When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”

Susan Polis Schutz’s encouragement: “Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair.”

Well-known words from John Keats: “A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s advice: “Music…in times of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you.”

This quote comes from one of our Exchange books, The Art of Leadership: Leading People: “Organizations led by heart-centered leaders become interdependent, mutually supportive, and joyful.”

And one more from Rumi: “Sorrow prepares you for joy. It violently sweeps everything out of your house, so that new joy can find space to enter.”

As you go about your life-changing early childhood education work this week, in whatever way you are doing it at the moment, remember that you deserve joy every day. And it is there waiting to be discovered.
