Celebrating the Authentic Moments in Teaching

The habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties. Great necessities call out great virtues.
Abigail Adams

In a video interview on the Exchange Ed.Flicks online platform, teacher Nick Terrones (author of A Can of Worms: Fearless Conversations With Toddlers), celebrates the wonders of working with toddlers. He says:

“Two’s are not terrible, they’re terrific!...You see all their development and the fruits of your labor when you’re working with them as a teacher. You see so much in them blossom during the first nine, ten months you’re together. It comes from your consistency and the relationship building you’re doing with them.

One fallacy we’ve been taught in our teaching programs...when we’re learning to become teachers...is that teachers always have to have an answer so they can ‘teach it’...I think, though, that the real authentic moments of teaching come from just wondering together.”
