There are numerous exciting developments in child care and family policy going on right now in English-speaking developed nations. What is most notable about these policies is that they translate into direct, practical application when it comes to the growth and development of child care programs.

Great Britain: Several organizations have taken strong roles in assuring the growth and development of child care. Among the most notable are the Daycare Trust and the National Childcare Campaign. The trust and campaign have been attempting to improve the quality of care nationally by advocating for better child care services, developing new approaches to meeting child care need, and becoming involved with the development of policies which work for children and families. The National Child-care Campaign is developing a manifesto wherein the concerns of parents, child care providers, and early childhood experts will be articulated to politicians as future national policies are set. Colette Kelleher is the new director of the Daycare Trust.
