"I suppose it's the blind faith policy of insurance purchasing that gets most organizations in trouble," noted Molly Marshall Jones, the moderator of an insurance purchasing panel recently sponsored by the Nonprofit Risk Management Center. And she is absolutely right.

Too many child care center directors follow this blind faith policy of insurance purchasing even though the results can be disastrous. What is the alternative? Ask some key questions when you are in the process of buying insurance. Once you have purchased insurance, don't forget to check in periodically and ask some more questions.

Ask your agent to give you information about his/her own qualifications to serve you.
