800 Participate in  World Forum in Montreal


A late influx of registrants boosted attendance at last week's World Forum on Early Care and Education to just over 800 participants from 81 nations. Most delegates played significant roles in the success of the conference: To start with, nearly half of the delegates had participated by email in the planning of the program. In addition...

* over 300 delegates particpated as presenters or moderators
* 45 Canadians served on the Host Team and the Center Tours Team to help plan the overall event
* 55 individuals and organizations made donations to underwrite the Fellowship Program
* 75 delegates were representatives of international organizations in the World Forum Alliance
* 40 participated on the Communication team to capture ideas
* nearly 100 served as helping hand ambassadors
* 48 serve as World Forum National Representatives
* 23 are members of the International Organizing Committee
* 75 served as volunteers for registration, hospitality and flow management,
* over 200 participated in centers tours
* approximately 450 took part in No Host lunches and dinners
* 39 participated as hosts or guests in the First Hand program
* 78 were involved in the Multi-Site Managers Exchange
* Over 100 participated in the Educators Exchange
* 35 attended the EC Eteaching Institute
* Over 50 had items on sale in the World Forum Bookstore
* 23 participated in the Global Leaders program
* Over 150 participated in everning discussion groups
* 22 were involved in the Reconciliation Working Team meetings.
* 175 personalized boxes in the Lakeshore Community Art Project
* 125 participated in the Giraffe and Recipe Exchange projects
*  220 were extremely active at the Internional Dance
*  90 particpated at least once in the evening Music Festivals
* Over 300 brought children's books and artwork to display

A large number of continuing activities were initiated over the four days of the World Forum in the areas of HIV/AIDS; reconciliation, male involvement, outdoor education, play, multi-site management, online education, early childhood in Africa, Tsunami response, and leadership development.
