Slight Improvement in Teacher Wages

Last week's Exchange Insta-Poll on "Child Care Wages in North America" shows a slight improvement in wages for early childhood teachers from last year.  In the May 2004 survey, regional averages for hourly wages for lead teachers ranged from $10 to $12; this year they range from $10 to $14.  Last year assistant teacher hourly wages ranged from $7 to $9; this year from $7 to $10.
 
Lest one rejoice that good times are ahead, keep in mind two disclaimers.  First, data in the Exchange Insta-Poll is not scientifically collected -- this is a survey, not a research project.  Second, we still need more responses to this year's survey to make the results more reliable.  We especially need more ExchangeEveryDay readers from the following places to participate:
