High-Speed Life-Long Learning

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of a good teacher.
Temple Grandin

Life-long learning is valued by many organizations. At times, our ability to participate in learning opportunities is hampered by our commitment to direct service. This is particularly true for teachers of young children … there is always a priority ahead of professional development.

Fortunately, there are many online learning opportunities for adults that are available 24/7. For individuals who want to learn more about supported inclusion for children with special needs in community-based learning environments, I recommend registering at www.connectability.ca. This site offers three comprehensive modules on Positive Behavior Supports, Communication, and Adaptations and Accommodations. The site contains tip sheets, tools, and interactive workshops … all resources that will support the work that you do, the information you provide to parents, and the professional growth of your teachers.

Congratulations to Community Living Toronto, Surrey Place, and the City of Toronto Canada for launching this accessible site for professional growth and development.
