Peace Comes to Nepal

Many dedicated professionals from Nepal have been active in the World Forum since its inception. Over the years they have shared the wrenching news about the many lives that have been taken and the many families who have suffered greatly from the conflict. Today, however, we have good news sent to us from Bishnu Bhatta, who represented Nepal at the recent Working Forum on Nature Education and Young Children:

"Dearest Friends! We are happily informing you that finally peace has come over Nepal! Last night at 21.29 hours is historic moment for us (21 November) all parties signed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which means a turnover from a ceasefire to a permanent state of peace. The whole of Nepal is in a state of excitement and energy for the betterment of the country. All the leaders including Maoist have shown their commitment to build 'NEW NEPAL.'

"In the time of the conflict the development of Nepal was narrowed. People in the remote areas most in need of help and opportunities, had been impossible to reach. Now all business and development workers can spread safely over the whole of Nepal. For our work it means that we can now work safely throughout country and thus work where the need is the highest. It means we can conduct our projects and programs with the utmost responsiveness and effectiveness! For future volunteers it will mean no more worries about safety, full concentration on the project, and of course enjoying and experiencing Nepal to the fullest!"
