Those Who Serve

There is nothing, I think, more unfortunate than to have soft, chubby, fat-looking children who go to watch their school play basketball every Saturday and regard that as their week's exercise.
John F. Kennedy in address at U.S. Children's Bureau

Today is Memorial Day in the United States, a day we honor those in uniform who have put their lives on the line to serve their country.

At Exchange we want to take this opportunity to honor, in addition, the thousands of administrators, teachers, familiy child care providers, bus drivers, and cooks who provide care for over 200,000 children of military families as part of the military child care system.  In the 20 years since enactment of the Military Child Care Act, military child care has undergone enormous change.  Those changes have led to recognition by a number of organizations, including the National Association of Regulatory Administration and the National Women’s Law Center, as well as by President William Clinton, that the military child care system is a model worthy of emulation.

Thank you to all who provide this valuable service to families of women and men in uniform.
