What a Mystery!

In the past, Bonnie and I would recommend our favorite books of the year (and if you are want to see them click on these years to take you to them: 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004) and the mystery books in these lists were always popular among our readers.  But we got away from doing that.  So here we go again with my favorite mystery books since 2010 from some of my very favorite writers (most with a humorous bent):

• Love Song of J. Edgar Hoover by Kinky Friedman — an off-beat man writes an off-beat mystery
• Bad Chile by Joe Lansdale — backwoods Texas version of Parker's Spencer hero
• Nairobi Heat by Mukowa Wa Ngugi -- NGO conspiracy stretches from Wisconsin to Kenya
• Between the Bridge and the River by Craig Ferguson — night show host takes crack at humorous Scottish mystery
• Jack Wakes Up by Seth Harwood — actor caught in a drug war
• Learning to Swim by Sara Henry — writer sees boy thrown off ferry boat and investigates
• Land of the Blind by Jess Walter — confession of murder of a childhood friend
• Dog Eats Dog by Ian Levinson — bank robber hides out in small New Hampshire town
• Smoked by Patrick Quinlan — hit man stalked by former employer
• A Samba for Sherlock by Jo Soares — funny Sherlock based in Brazil
• Bank Shot by Donald Westlake — bumbling thief targets bank in a trailer
