Live Life Large

Good manners sometimes means simply putting up with other people's bad manners.
H. Jackson Brown, Jr., American author

Georgia O'Keeffe, an American artist best known for her bright flowers and arid landscapes, was born on November 15, 1887. Today we celebrate her work and her early childhood experiences. Like so many other artists, creatives and free thinkers, Georgia found inspiration exploring the natural world.

"Georgia basically had an unsupervised childhood," wrote John Rosenow in "Living Long and Living Well: Inspiring Stories of Creating and Contributing in the Wisdom Years." "She played with dolls, drew and painted to keep up with her lessons, and spent hours and hours by herself in nature. In her later years, O'Keefe would remember her childhood as a time of freedom, the time she learned to love flowers and landscapes and extreme weather."

"As a youngster and throughout his life, [Carl] Jung was a maverick and a free thinker, trusting his own ideas and even his dreams more than the conventional wisdom of the day or the theories of the most eminent authorities." Young Jung strolled in the woods alone day dreamed and had a world all of his own. He described his inward personality as being connected to animals, nature, to dreams and to God.

Read about Georgia, Carl and other inspirational leaders in Rosenow's book. We promise you’ll find inspiration for living a life full of purpose.
