AIDS Learning Exchange

"Learn about a pine tree from a pine tree, and about a bamboo plant from a bamboo plant." - Matsuo Basho

AIDS Learning Exchange

Carol Allen has been an advocate at past World Forums for educators from around the world to reach out to stem the repercussions of the AIDS crisis.  Now after spending time observing first hand the impact of AIDs on young children in South Africa, she has created a mechanism enabling early childhood professionals to get involved.  She has founded Starbright Learning Exchange with the purpose of establishing a cross-cultural exchange program between Australian and South African early childhood educators.

It is intended that this program will provide support for preschool programs for young African children who have been infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and to establish links between centers and their staff members in Australia and South Africa.  The plan calls for an ongoing exchange with early childhood staff from Australia and South Africa spending six months in each others' centers.
