The Hot Seat Game

Living together is an art.
William Pickens

Need an ice breaker for a staff meeting? Erica Saccoccio has one for you. In her article, "Congratulations! You're the New School-Age Director," in School-Age NOTES (March 2007; www.SchoolAgeNotes.com) Ms. Saccoccio shared a number of team building games. The Hot Seat Game gives each staff member a chance to sit in a "hot seat." While a staff member is sitting in the hot seat, all other team members have the opportunity to ask questions about hobbies, favorite memories, childhood reflections, the most memorable thing a student has said to you, and favorite stories from work. It is important that everyone take a turn in the hot seat — including the team leader.
