World Environment Day

We were born to unite with our fellow men, and to join in community with the human race.
Cicero

The United Nations has proclaimed June 5 as World Environment Day. In making the proclamation, the UN observes that "the day's agenda is to give a human face to environmental issues; empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development; promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues; and advocate partnership, which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future." For the World Forum Foundation, this is an important day as it offers an opportunity to celebrate the work of the Nature Action Collaborative for Children (NACC) which strives to reconnect children of the world with nature. The NACC leadership team had a productive meeting at the 2007 World Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, planning among other things, a second Working Forum on Nature Education at the Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska in July, 2008. Learn more about NACC and the upcoming Working Forum.
