Highest Priority Teacher Training Topics

Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.
Walter Lippmann

While the debate rages on about whether early childhood teachers need a bachelors degree (see ExchangeEveryDay for October 1, "Formal Education -- Part III"), no one questions the need to have teachers well trained for their day to day work.  Three years ago we conducted an Exchange Insta-Poll on "Most Important Training Topics."  In this poll, ExchangeEveryDay readers told us that these topics were the most important:

  1. Children with challenging behaviors
  2. Being involved w/children at free play
  3. Developmentally appropriate practice
  4. Effective communication
  5. Team building amongst staff
  6. Conflicts among staff
  7. Arranging physical environment
  8. Child assessment
  9. Difficult parents
  10. Chatting among staff
  11. Curriculum implementation
  12. Documentation
We are eager to know how training needs have changed since 2004.  Please give us your views on what topics do you most urgently need to address in training your staff today by voting in this week's Exchange Instal-Poll. After you vote for your preferences, you can find out how your peers are voting as well.
