An Appeal For Help

AN APPEAL FOR HELP

We have received this message from Jan Lanier:

Because of my meaningful experience during the World Forum on Early Care and Education in Acapulco, Mexico,  I turned to my WF Directory when I learned that my company, Grounds For Play, would be sending me to India in October.  Four people from India, including one from New Delhi, were listed.  I e-mailed B. K. Rose Hmar to tell her that I was coming to India and ask her about India.  My life will never be the same.

My first night I went to dinner with Rose and her son, Romeo.  Rose runs a school for street children in the heart of Old Delhi.  These children are poor beyond what I could imagine.  Spending time with Rose and seeing how close to poverty she personally lives so she can give to these young lives, touched me deeply.

Her school, GGM Educare Center, consists of a room with two walls, about 10' X 12 into which she fits 50 children at a time.  They sit shoulder to shoulder on the floor with precious few resources; some have a pencil and some do not. Once a week the snack is one slice of bread and a boiled egg.  This day the children consider very special.  She runs 3 shifts of two hours each day to serve 150 children; more ask to come.  Their needs were very apparent.  I decided to help in some way and am asking you to join me.

A contribution of $75 for three months or $300 for twelve months will provide a good meal each school day, school supplies, a trained teacher, and other necessaries for a child.  The entire contribution will be sent to India for these children.

I will provide a quarterly project update on the web site of the World Forum (www.ChildCareExchange.com).
