Thoughts About Money

When you discard your own pettiness, center yourself in integrity, and reach into your soul for your greatness, it is always there.
Lynne Twist

Lynne Twist, in her popular, thought-provoking book, The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life, writes:

"Money is like water. It can be a conduit for commitment, a currency of love. Money moving in the direction of our highest commitments, nourishes our world and ourselves. What you appreciate appreciates. When you make a difference with what you have, it expands...True abundance flows from enough; never from more. Money carries our intention. If we use it with integrity, then it carries integrity."

Dawn Marie Barhyte, in The Art of Leadership: Managing Money in Early Childhood Organizations, writes:

"It's no secret that child care programs need more financial help today than ever before. A well-planned and enjoyable fundraising campaign can make all the difference in raising the monies needed to supplement stretched budgets."

She suggests, "Begin by assessing your readiness. With dedication and meticulous planning, your fundraising efforts can be a resounding success. A written fundraising plan gives you a roadmap for achieving your goals...

Setting smart goals is a critical step in the fundraising process because it gives supporters confidence to support your organization through their donations and it gives your team the confidence they need to work towards that goal. SMART goals are:

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Timely"
