PBS ANNOUNCES ECE DOCUMENTARY

Learning Matters, Inc. has just completed the documentary "The Promise of Preschool with John Merrow," which will begin premiering on PBS stations in October, 2002. The merits of preschool and the wildly divergent experiences available to families today, is the subject of this one hour PBS report. In the broadcast, Peabody Award-winning journalist Merrow travels in the U.S. and abroad to see where preschools are working or not working - and why - for children and parents from all economic levels of society.

The producer of the documentary, Georgia West suggested that if you have an on-going relationship with your local PBS station, it might be a good idea to speak to their Learning Services and/or Communications departments about ways that you might be able to work together in bringing attention to this issue in you area.

If you'd like more information about the program you can call the producer, Georgia West, at 212-725-7000 x245. Or contact the Public Relations director for the program, Michael Shepley, at 212-786-9064 / [email protected]. You can also visit the documentary's website at http://www.pbs.org/merrow/tv/preschool/.
