That First Taste
May 26, 2014
If you would rule the world, keep it amused.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

As noted in the past, we try to avoid sharing cutesy videos of fluffy cats and tricky dogs, but once in a while there is one that brings a smile.  Here is one showing expressions of children when they first taste a new food.

I thought it was interesting that i did not notice an overweight child in the video. I think generally children in Child Care are more active. I also think they are provided better food choices.

I also believe that the Chlorine and Fluoride in our water system is slowing causing problems for our Thyroid gland and that it probably takes a few decades to start really affecting an individual.

I am glad you pointed out the many things to eat that are not only full of calories, devoid of nutrition, and causing not only obesity but other health problems.

Need to also focus on GMOs. This generation is the true guinea pigs for these strange new things to eat. They will have been raised on them. Scientist from the United Kingdom initially warned of us about these new alternates to "real" food.

So yes it is important to teach children to eat healthy, what is healthy? Is it healthy to eat GMOs? Is it healthy to eat animals who have been feed GMO’s.
As usual there is no simple answer. Eating healthy?

My favorite resources on food and young children is ELLYN SATTER. Her information is so helpful regarding food personalities/temperaments, picky stages, and the idea that learning to eat a variety of foods (like all other things) is a process of exploration and play
