And the late Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo and related sequels. Also read Roald Dahl's Ghost Stories (he didn't write them, he recommends them!)

I also am a big fan of mysteries, both of international and those that occur in past historical eras. Some of my recent favorites are the Oscar Wilde series by Gyles Brandreth, The Inspector Chen series by Qiu Xiaolong, and the Marcus Didius Falco "informer" series by Lindsey Davis.

I look forward to reading your recommendations!

Mysteries are one of my favorite ways of relaxing. Recently I have been going back to some of the classics that I read in the past, and find that I still love them. In part I think, this is because they evoke the not so distant past quite vividly. I would heartily recommend Josephine Tey, and in particular, "A Shilling for Candles," "The Singing Sands," and "Bratt Farrar." She has a way of unwrapping a mystery that is very satisfying.
