Teachers Change Lives
September 27, 2010
After dinner, rest. After supper, walk.
-Arab Proverb
In the September/October issue of Exchange Magazine, Bettye Caldwell shared a great story about a child whose life she impacted in her article, "Frankie's Story: Early Experiences Matter". She concluded...

"Teachers and caregivers have daily opportunities to be the catalysts for spectacular developmental advances for children who otherwise seem destined to end up in a developmental wasteland.  We help provide love and attention, a healthful environment, good nutrition, and appropriate interpersonal interaction day after day.  So, whether we think of these dramatic changes as miracles or simply developmental advances, they are all around us, just waiting for a chance to happen — and waiting for us to help.  The opportunity to be part of such miracles in the lives of young children is a bonus of our professional work that should not be taken lightly."

A child always immitates the teacher . Little eyes of the children observes the
teachers.

I firmly agree to what Betty has written, because, I've been an EC educator for last 21 years & everytime , every moment I experience that I as their teacher, am doing great significant changes in their lives for what their parents say are developments. Since I'm involved in educational activities through a NGO, people always ask me as to why I did not take a bachelors degree in high school education. I tell them that, "everyone would like to be the top of the temple, who will be the stepping stone?"

This article is soooo true. I teach college students and in the class session they voice this very idea often. I'm so glad they "get it" early in their careers!

I also want to thank Bonnie and Roger for pointing us to the Pages, Inc. I'm so pleased to have both Exchange and Pages, Inc. as valuable resources I can trust every day!
