This detour is about an Internet phenomena (that probably 90% of you already know about) called "Black Cab Sessions". The idea is that musicians or poets are invited to perform in the back seat of a moving big taxicab. The session starts with a random cab driver introducing the performers and then, as the cab strolls through the streets (usually in London), the performers perform amidst speed bumps and other distractions. I especially enjoyed Richard Thompson, Death Cab for Cutie, Cloud Control, Lykke Li, the New Pornographers and Lianne La Havas... but there are tons of great sessions to enjoy. It is imperative that we step out side the box for new and creative ideas. This way we stimulate our out look on our field. I learned quite a bit from business people in other areas when I was a director. When we stay focused just on ECE we limit our exposure to other ways of doing and thinking.
