Where to Be Born
December 31, 2012
Creativity represents a miraculous coming together of the uninhibited energy of the child with its apparent opposite and enemy, the sense of order imposed on the disciplined adult intelligence.
-Norman Podhoretz
Looking ahead to 2013, the Economist observes that where you are born in 2013 will have a major impact on your life chances.  In its annual forecast, The World in 2013, the magazine presented its "Where-To-Be-Born Index, 2013".  This index ranked 80 countries on 11 statistically significant indicators ranging from subjective ones (satisfaction surveys and trust levels in public institutions) to hard core ones (crime rates, per capita income, and health indices).  The results reveal these countries ranking highest and lowest in the index:

Each and every child born on earth deserves the safe and healthy environment to grow. The children do not have choice - it is parents, society and government's responsibility to provide safe place for the newcomer. Having said this, let us pray for the better years ahead where all the children of the world can get that opportunity to live happily and enjoy their childhood like a normal child!
In spite of all these hassle, America is still a good place to raise a child- yes, if parents put their effort, they can give their children happy, healthy and well nurtured childhood...
Happy New Year 2013. Best wishes to Child Care Exchange and their family. And thank you fr providing platform to exchange our views.
