Super Love Fundraising
April 9, 2010
Time, not unlike money, gets spent. Money spent is just money. Time spent is your life. Every day, the way we spend our time is the way we have chosen to spend our lives.
-Dennis Vicars, Child Care Veteran
As a reminder that non profit programs should be constantly vigilant for funding opportunities, consider this news from The NonProfit Times (March 15, 2010)...

"Five charities split a $1 million donation from Target Corporation based on the number of votes they received through a Valentine's-themed campaign on the popular social networking site, Facebook.

"The Super Love Sender campaign...invited the online community and Facebook users...to help choose how five national charities would receive a portion of $1 million from Target to benefit educational programming."

The five highest vote getters were:
  • St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee;
  • United through Reading Military Program in San Diego, California;
  • Kids in Need Foundation in Dayton, Ohio;
  • United Way in Alexandria, Virginia;
  • The Salvation Army in Alexandria, Virgina
