In his article, "Best Practices Get You Only So Far," in the Harvard Business Review (April 2010), C.K. Prahalad observes...

Albert Einstein said that "imagination is more important than knowledge." Best Practice needed to imagined first before it became a standard for early childhood care. I think that best practice needs to be considered as a starting point and standard by which all facilities should operate. After that, scaffolding of this knowledge should occur with which "next practice" or "our imagination" should be encouraged and fostered.

I am concerned that "next practice" gives permission to not strive for best practice. Why do research on what is best for children and families and then not strive for it? Especially in our field where we struggle to find and retain great staff. I think some programs would find this license to change to change for convenience versus quality.
Just my %.02 . Generally I love Exchnage everyday.
