The Power of Creating Wonderful Ideas
Ideas do not just happen. They are created through the synergy of the content of our lives, our intentions, and our relationships. Diane Levin was my professor who became my friend and has continued to be an avid co-creator of ideas and the work that follows. She explained to me that she learns what she is thinking by writing, which, of course, has fed our relationship as author and editor, co-thinkers, and child advocates. Diane tells it this way:
For almost 40 years, Bonnie and I have been brainstorming together about possible topics for me to write about for Exchange magazine. In the course of this very engaging collaborative process, I have ended up writing articles I never would have without her help in coming up with the wonderful ideas around which to organize the key concepts for each specific article!
It is not that the information we discuss for each article is new to me, because I usually know it quite well; that is why I said I would write the article! Rather, it is that through our give-and-take discussions, which grow out of our many deeply shared understandings of children’s development ...
