I stumbled across Coelho’s quote shortly after a number of unexpected emails appeared in my inbox. I have learned to pay attention to synchronicities. (I do not even call them coincidences any more). Over the past two months, I have taken a few risks. A small one was writing the previous “Journeys in Leadership” column about the gift of letting go, then asking others to share their stories with me. I wondered how I would feel if I got absolutely no response, but I decided to risk asking anyway.
The unexpected that followed my risk came in the form of more emails than I would have dreamed—with richer, deeper stories than I had imagined. I am gratified that our Exchange community wants to share this kind of inspiration with each other. Our readers have already taught me that my thinking about what it means to let go was too small.
