Illinois State University Child Care Center has a multi-purpose mission. That mission is supported by a unique marriage between the academic side of campus and the student services side. With the help of multiple funding streams (university, student activity fees, state, and federal) we provide affordable, high quality child care services to ISU students with children ages two through ten.

We're a small program of 50 children, with great hopes of expanding. By 2007, our goal is to serve ISU faculty and staff, as well as our students. After all, we're a campus community, and the common denominator of any community is caring for the children! That's been our specialty since 1971.

But I get ahead of myself talking about dreams. Let me describe our current mission further. Our child care center is also a laboratory setting for students enrolled in child development and early childhood curriculum coursework offered through ISU's Family and Consumer Sciences Department (FCS). Our program is used by a diverse array of departments (such as nursing, psychology, business and marketing, speech pathology, early childhood education, and environmental health) as an observation or research site for undergraduate and graduate students.
