Shortchanging Children
March 1, 2012
The challenge isn't to keep your eye on big competitors. It's to pay attention to the innovators.
-Dave Duffield
Exchange recently interviewed Jacqueline Jones, Senior Advisor for Early Learning to the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan.  One of the issues Jones addressed in the interview, and which you can view on our site, was the limitations we place on children.

correction: rhetoric

While I appreciate that jacqueline Jones understands the importance of focusing on our very youngest children, she never discusses what quality early childhood programs look like. This is the problem with the Department of Education right now. No one outlines: working with children on communication, problem solving, creativity. All just lots of retoric!

Time to toss out Arne Duncan and put Linda Darling Hammond and J. Jones in charge.
