"Although the sorts of asymmetries we examined are barely perceptible, humans are unconsciously sensitive to them. We posit that people born with asymmetries tend to develop greater empathy, social intelligence, and motivational skills as a way of overcoming perceptions that they are unattractive or unintelligent."

Yet another piece of interesting correlational research, but I beg to differ with their hypothesized explanation. Who's to say that asymmetry is unattractive?
I am reminded of science museum exhibits that let you use mirrors to see how you'd look with perfect symmetry - the results are startlingly less than enhancing! I'll keep my off-kilter earlobes, thanks.
